Thanks for chiming in. I don't disagree with any of the points you make. Yet as with Greenwald, Dore, Johnstone et al, you skate past the simple fact that we *consent* to the Terms of Service. I understand why we collectively overlook this simple fact, but that doesn't make it right. In fact it reminds me again and again how "NO!" and revoking consent (re: the coronavirus vaccine debacle) is the greatest form of poltiical power we have. The simple question remains: how do we build the political pressure necessary to have these companies become public utilities? Barring that, complaining about this situtation amounts to nothing more than the empty rhetoric of pissing-and-moaning which, to be fair, constitutes much of the polticial debate on the Internet.
