Neat approach. The Animals version of "House of the Rising Sun" creeped me out in the 70s. All those minor chords, jeesh! Evil sounding but definitely a story song. "Devil Went Down to Georgia" probably qualifies, too, as well Leadbelly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night."

Kinda makes me wonder if Metallica's "Creeping Death" or "One" count as story songs. What about Iron Maiden's "Murders in the Rue Morgue," which is obviously based on the Poe short? Asking for a friend. :)
